Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
1. Who we are
NBA2KLab ("we", "us") is operated by MSC Partners LLC. This policy explains what data we collect when you use nba2klab.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. NBA2KLab is not associated with NBA 2K, Take-Two Interactive, or the NBA.
Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication credentials. Accounts are handled by Google Firebase Authentication. If you sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook or X (Twitter), we receive basic profile information (such as your email address) from that provider. Your session token and subscription claims are stored in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in.
Subscription and payment information
Premium subscriptions are processed by Chargebee. We do not receive or store your full card number. Chargebee handles payment details directly; we receive only your subscription status, plan and billing history so we can provide and support the service.
Usage and device information
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. This may include your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site and general location. We also use FirstPromoter to attribute referrals from our affiliate partners. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses.
Discord
If you choose to link your Discord account, we store your Discord user ID so we can grant access to premium Discord channels. You can ask us to unlink it at any time.
Player Card and community data
Our Community Stats tool reports aggregate trends in NBA 2K, such as average win percentage or shooting percentage by build, height or position. This data is gathered from publicly visible in-game Player Cards. It is aggregated and anonymized: we do not publish gamertags or in-game identities, and the tool reports group averages rather than individuals. See section 7.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To provide premium tools and manage your subscription and billing.
- To respond to support requests.
- To measure and improve site performance and our tools.
- To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)
- Contract — creating your account, providing premium tools, and processing your subscription.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, preventing abuse, and understanding aggregate usage.
- Consent — analytics and affiliate cookies, where required. You can withdraw consent at any time (section 5).
- Legal obligation — retaining billing records.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential storage keeps you signed in and remembers your preferences; the site cannot function without it. Beyond that we use Google Analytics (usage measurement) and FirstPromoter (referral attribution).
If you are visiting from the EU, EEA or UK, we ask for your consent before loading analytics or affiliate scripts, and they stay off unless you accept. Declining leaves all essential functionality working. You can change your choice by clearing this site's data in your browser, which will prompt you again. You can also opt out of Google Analytics anywhere using Google's browser add-on.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase, Analytics) — authentication and usage analytics.
- Chargebee — subscription billing and payment processing.
- Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions.
- Sanity — content management for articles and patch notes.
- FirstPromoter — affiliate referral tracking.
- Discord — only if you link your account.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the security of the service.
7. Community Stats and Player Card data
The Community Stats tool is built from data observed on publicly visible in-game Player Cards in NBA 2K. We record gameplay attributes — such as build, height, position, ratings and performance statistics — and store them in aggregate.
We do not publish gamertags, usernames or other in-game identifiers alongside this data, and the tool reports group averages rather than individual players. We do not attempt to link this data to a real-world identity or to any NBA2KLab account.
If you believe data associated with you appears in this tool and you want it removed, contact [email protected] and we will review the request.
8. How long we keep data
- Account data — for as long as your account is active, and deleted on request.
- Billing records — retained as long as required by tax and accounting law.
- Analytics data — retained per Google Analytics' configured retention period.
- Server logs — retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
- Aggregated community data — retained indefinitely in anonymized, aggregate form.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you also have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither), and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting. EEA and UK users also have the right to complain to their local data protection authority.
10. Children
NBA2KLab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. In the EEA and UK, users under 16 should only use the site with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We operate from the United States and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you access the site from the EEA or UK, your information is transferred to the United States under appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses used by our providers.
12. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), an established authentication provider, and a payment processor that handles card data so we never hold it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly if they arise.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on the site.
