NBA 2k27 Pass Style Rankings

All 60 pass styles in NBA 2K27, thrown the length of the floor 30 times each and graded 1 to 5 on where the catch leaves the receiver. That is 1,800 graded passes.

Across the whole field 57.4% of those passes left a teammate able to shoot straight away, and that average hides a wide spread between the best styles and the worst. The table below ranks all 60 and tiers them from S down to D, with every style's grade spread and the Pass Accuracy it requires.

Two tests, both at 95 Pass Accuracy. The grades come from 1,800 passes thrown the length of the floor to a teammate in the corner, and they are what the board is ranked on. The timings come from a separate 3,600 passes thrown half court, corner to the opposite corner, split evenly between standard and bounce. A half court pass is in the air for less time than a full court one, so the two sets of times describe different throws and are not compared anywhere on this page. Both were thrown by a build rated 95 Pass Accuracy; we have not tested whether a lower rating changes either result.

How a pass is graded

Grade 5 pass example

Grade 5: Clean

Catch and shoot corner three positioning on the catch. Nothing to fix.

Grades 4 and 5 are counted as shootable. Grades 3 to 5 are salvageable, the wider bar: you keep the possession, you just give up the clean look. Across every style the field ran 57.4% shootable and 70.9% salvageable, for an average grade of 3.40.

How these rankings were made

Every pass style in NBA 2k27 was thrown the full length of the court 30 times by a build rated 95 Pass Accuracy, and each catch was graded 1 to 5 on where it left the receiver, from a clean catch and shoot corner three down to a ball stumbling along the ground. That is 1,800 graded passes in total. Styles are ranked on their average grade, which uses all five levels rather than collapsing them into a pass or a fail, and are then grouped into tiers from S down to D. The table also carries the Pass Accuracy each style requires, so you can filter the board down to the styles your build can actually equip.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best pass style in NBA 2K27?

We graded 1,800 full court passes, 30 for every one of the 60 styles in the game, and ranked them on the average grade of the catch each one produced. The styles at the top of the board landed more than twice as many shootable catches as the styles at the bottom, so the choice is worth making. The full ranking, tiered from S down to D, is in the table above.

How are the pass styles graded?

Every clip is one full court pass, graded 1 to 5 on where the receiver ends up when the ball arrives. A 5 is clean catch and shoot corner three positioning, a 3 is salvageable but out of position, and a 1 is a ball stumbling on the ground that may not be caught at all. Styles are ranked on their average grade, which uses all five levels rather than collapsing them into a pass or fail.

How are the styles ranked?

On average grade, which uses all five grade levels rather than collapsing them into a pass or a fail, then grouped into tiers from S down to D. Styles with the same average share a placing. Sort by any column in the table to reorder the board on shootable rate, salvageable rate, Pass Accuracy or catch time instead.

Does your pass style change how fast the ball gets there?

Yes, and the gap is larger than most players expect. On our half court test, corner to the opposite corner, the ball leaves the passer's hands in 0.59s on the quickest style and 0.83s on the slowest, a difference of nearly a quarter of a second before the pass has even started. That is the animation windup, which is where the styles separate. The full court board is graded on where the catch leaves the receiver rather than timed, so the Half Court Release column is the one to sort on for speed.

Do these rankings apply to short and half court passes?

No. Every clip in this test is a full court pass to a teammate in the corner, which is why the grades are scored on catch and shoot corner three positioning. Short passes and half court passes were not tested, so treat this board as a full court result only.

What Pass Accuracy were these thrown at?

Every pass in the test was thrown by a build rated 95 Pass Accuracy, so the grades describe how each animation behaves at that rating. We did not test the same styles on a lower rated passer, so we cannot tell you whether the board shifts on a build in the 70s or 80s. The Pass Accuracy filter above the table is about what you can equip, not about what was tested.

Do pass styles have requirements in NBA 2K27?

Yes. Every signature style needs a minimum Pass Accuracy, and across the 60 styles those requirements run from 40 up to 95. Enter your build's Pass Accuracy above the table to hide the styles you cannot equip.
